1. Holi

However, the locals often call this festival with the term die Wies'n which is derived from the Theresienwiese, an open space that used to hold Oktoberfest in Munich near the city center. Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture, which has been ongoing since 1810. This year, the Oktoberfest held from Saturday, September 21 until Sunday, October 6th.

Initially, only Oktoberfest is celebrated for 16 days, starting from the end of September until the first Sunday in October. However, in 1994, Oktoberfest schedule was changed in response to German reunification so that if the first Sunday in October falls on the 1st or 2nd, the festival will be held until October 3 (German Unity Day). Thus, the festival will be held for 17 days, when the first Sunday in October falls on the 2nd and 18 days when the first Sunday in October falls on the 1st.

Traditional parades are held and in some venue "Miss Songkran" is crowned, where contestants are clothed in traditional Thai dress.

Songkran Festival was originally held by the people of Thailand to celebrate the New Year. As a tribute to Buddha with cleaning the house and splashing water to people who are older. However, over time, turned into a tradition of Songkran water fight game. Every April 13-15, people would walk down the street carrying water pistols, buckets and a hose for showering each other with water until their body wet. 6. Dia De Los Muertos


Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de Muertos) is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico, in particular the Central and South regions, and by people of Mexican ancestry living in other places, especially the United States. It is acknowledged internationally in many other cultures. The multi-day holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey. In 2008 the tradition was inscribed in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO

The holiday is sometimes called Día de los Muertos in Anglophone countries, a back-translation of its original name, Día de Muertos. It is particularly celebrated in Mexico where the day is a public holiday. Prior to Spanish colonization in the 16th century, the celebration took place at the beginning of summer. Gradually it was associated with October 31, November 1 and November 2 to coincide with the Western Christian triduum of Allhallowtide: All Saints' Eve, All Saints' Day, and All Souls' Day.
